Taking a dog or cat from India to Singapore

Understand Singapore’s Schedule III pathway, veterinary timing, quarantine booking and licences before arranging travel.

Anist Editorial · Sources checked

Before you start

India falls within Singapore’s Schedule III grouping under the current AVS lists. Plan the veterinary sequence and quarantine place before choosing a fixed arrival date.

Check the current AVS schedule and eligibility

AVS groups origins into Schedules I, II and III. India is not in I or II, so use Schedule III unless AVS confirms a different applicable history. Check prohibited breeds and housing eligibility as well as health conditions. A brief stop in another country does not automatically create a different qualifying residence history.

Use the Schedule III veterinary conditions

The April 2026 conditions describe rabies testing at least 28 days after vaccination, with sampling at least 90 days and no more than 12 months before export, using an accepted laboratory and a result of at least 0.5 IU/ml. They also specify other vaccinations and internal/external parasite treatment between two and seven days before export. Take the current form to the vet rather than reconstructing it from memory.

Reserve quarantine before the journey

AVS requires at least 30 days at its Animal Quarantine Centre for Schedule III arrivals and a booking made in advance. Obtain the dog/cat licence before the import licence. The import licence is described as valid for 90 days; verify the actual issued document.

Plan the airport-to-quarantine transfer

AVS requires a rigid, compliant container for transfer to its airport quarantine facility, including when a pet arrived in a soft in-cabin carrier. Confirm the handover instructions, inspection arrangements and receiving party before departure.

Make one shared schedule

Create a table with the microchip number, vaccination dates, laboratory sample/result dates, reserved quarantine dates and proposed travel. Ask the vet and handling team to check the same table.

Align the Indian export appointment with Singapore’s specific veterinary form. Keep a copy of the licences, quarantine booking and carrier acceptance together. Read the returning-to-India guide if this is a temporary move.

Common questions

Is Singapore quarantine automatically waived for a personal pet from India?

No. The current Schedule III pathway requires at least 30 days of post-arrival quarantine.

Does a short stay in a Schedule I country automatically change my pet’s category?

No. Ask AVS to assess the actual residence and movement history.
