Separate local registration from travel documents

A city pet licence, a vaccination record, a microchip record and an Anist Pet ID have different functions. For international movement, use the relevant AQCS and destination processes as well.

The city links below are official service entry points, not a guarantee that every application can be completed online or that a particular fee remains unchanged. Check the current instructions before submitting private documents.

MCD publishes a pet-dog registration process under its municipal jurisdiction, including vaccination-linked validity. BMC publishes an online dog-licence process. The Chennai, Hyderabad, Gurugram, Guwahati and Ludhiana sources below provide their own local service starting points. These are municipal examples, not statewide rules.

Find the right authority for your location

Use the state/UT index to locate relevant official services and the National Portal’s government directory. If your municipality is not in the verified city list, ask its veterinary/public-health section about the current application, species covered, vaccination evidence, validity, fees and renewal process.

For locations without a separately verified pet-registration source here, the status is explicitly marked “Check locally”. That does not mean registration is unnecessary or that an online service exists.

When moving to another city

Ask the old and new authority whether the record needs an address amendment, transfer, surrender or fresh application. Keep copies of the earlier licence and vaccination evidence. An old-city licence does not tell you the new municipality’s process.

For a short visit, ask accommodation and transport providers about their own animal conditions. For an inter-state commercial transport service, check the applicable transport rules separately.

Check current restrictions through the authority

Breed, public-space and local implementation questions can involve changing orders and court directions. This guide does not label an animal “banned across India” from a newspaper headline or repeat an unverified breed list.

Ask the relevant authority for the current written rule applying to your animal, address and planned activity. Keep that reply with your records if the answer affects a move or journey.
